This month has been hectic. I was finally able to edit the last batch of pictures from my photoshoot with Allison last month and am writing this as I take a break from sewing wedding dresses.
I was supposed to have finished making these dresses by the end of last month but my favorite sewing machine finally broke beyond repair and I've spent hours trying to adjust to my new sewing machine.
I opted for buying a heavy duty vintage machine over getting a new one and even though I think it was a better decision I suffered through having to learn to get used to an old, completely mechanical sewing machine. I am just a few days away from finishing all the small details on all of these wedding dresses and am off to a photoshoot in Orlando on March 4th! So exciting!!!

Custom Bridesmaid dresses
One of the things I love most about my job is making custom dresses. I'm working on eight dresses for an August wedding and what I love so much about this order is how open the bride has been about allowing her bridesmaids to customize each of their dresses to fit their body and personal style.
I am thrilled to be making these dresses - we've been emailing back and forth since September and I'm pretty sure we're getting to that part where I actually get to start assembling everything!!!
This wedding has so many dress options and customizations I actually did quick sketches of each dress to be 100% sure I don't make any mistakes.
These were the base dresses from which to pick:
Fabrics
Shantung:
100% Italian Linen:

I just finished working on this picture! I have to say photography is probably the hardest part of my job. I'm not a photographer and although I consider myself to be artistic I do have a hard time taking pictures. I really enjoy doing it and although at first I took photos out of necessity it has become more of a fun part of my job that I am happy to do. With this said I am still sure I prefer to design and sew dresses than take pictures - I find photography to be a little unpredictable. Lighting is a complete mystery to me and finding the right light is not something that comes easy for me. I took so many pictures in this spot and ended up with just one that I though I could use - these pics were taken in shade and most of them came off too yellow.
